"Live at the Uptown Swingout" was recorded in the summer of 2019 in Minneapolis, MN, USA at a big dance event. Though we have 2 other albums under our belt this was our first live recording and it felt right doing it in Naomi's hometown of Minneapolis at the lindy hop event The Uptown Swingout.  Our amazing 3 horn line-up is from across the US with Jonathan Doyle from the Seattle area, Gordon Au from New York city, and Charlie Halloran from New Orleans. They were backed by our strong rhythm section- the 3 original band members who were there from the start: Jake Sanders, Jared Engel, and Dalton Ridenhour, and this recording had special guest Josh Collazo on drums. Last but not least bandleader and vocalist Naomi was in the driver's seat, choosing tunes from our repertoire that would swing the dance floor.  We culled the best takes from 2 swinging nights of music and dancing, with almost all being original arrangements that you can't hear any other band play.  Plus we have a new  song that Naomi wrote herself- our first tune on the album "Gone So Long".

Our second release - The Devils' Music

About The Album

Naomi Uyama - vocals
Jake Sanders - guitar
Jonathan Doyle - tenor sax and clarinet
Jeremy Noller - drums
Matt Musselman - trombone
Jared Engel - bass
Dalton Ridenhour - piano
Mike Davis - trumpet

"The Devils' Music" was recorded August 2016 in Chicago, USA over 2 days. Our hope was to show the growth we've had as a unit since our debut album was released 2 years prior. Our focus: having original arrangements of swinging tunes - some well loved by the dance community and other hidden gems. We also added to our line-up, and over half the songs on this album feature Mike Davis on trumpet, expanding our hot horn harmonies and giving us a new sound. Lastly Naomi wrote the band's first original composition, track 1 "Little Girl Blues", putting something out there that you can't hear from any other swing band. With a vintage ear and expertise from recording engineer Alex Hall we've mixed and mastered the whole shebang and can't wait for the world to hear it. We hope you enjoy "The Devils' Music".

Our self titled album "Naomi & Her Handsome Devils" came on the dance scene full of tunes made for swinging out. Recorded in May of 2014 it was actually the first time we came together to start making music as the Devils.  Though Naomi had hand picked some of her favorite jazz musicians from Chicago and New York City, the project didn't come together until those days in the studio, which you can hear for yourself on our debut release.

The summer after recording Naomi & Her Handsome Devils had their album release party at Herräng Dance Camp, the world's largest swing dance workshop and event.   Since coming together in 2013 the band has played some of the biggest and best lindy hop events around the world and this is the album that introduced us to the global scene.
